Program Overview

             YSEALI is the U.S. government's signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in ASEAN, deepen engagement with young leaders on key regional and global challenges, and advance people-to-people ties between the United States and young and emerging Southeast Asian leaders. YSEALI Academic Fellowship invites Southeast Asian youth to universities in the United States, where they can deepen their knowledge about regional issues and share their experience and perspectives.

Learning Experience and Leadership skills

          Nguyet Anh is one of three Vietnamese students who are placed in East West Center, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii to participate in YSEALI Academic Fellwoship on Environmental Issues, from March 17 to April 21, 2017. The learning journey includes three weeks in Honolulu Hawaii, one week in San Francisco California, and the final week in Washington D.C.

          In duration of 5-week program, Nguyet Anh gains more insights about environmental issues of US and Southeast Asean Countries by learning different strategies which focus on some urgent topics of environment. Each training programme is designed by the fellows including the classroom activities, and the site visits:Waikiki Beach, Hawaii

              Beside learning about environmental issues, Nguyet Anh also have opportunities to explore the American Culture and History by visiting many Cultural and historical sites during her learning journey. She also got chances to take part in some cultural activities and community services in different places across the U.S.

       5-week training program helps Nguyet Anh develop her leadership skills, deepen her knowledge and experience about environmental issues and strengthen new friendship with other fellows from countries across Southeast Asia.
