Scientific workshop on Forest Management and Rehabilitation

For 2 days from the 3rd to 4th June, 2019, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) in collaboration with the University British Columbia University, Canada organized a Scientific Workshop on Forest Management and Rehabilitation.

Attending the workshop was Asso.Prof.Dr. Bui The Doi - Vice President; Scientists from VNFU's departments; Foreign experts working at the university; Experts come from Canada, China, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Germany, Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Asso.Prof.Dr. Bui The Doi - Vice President
has emphasized the importance of current forest management and restoration, which is an important task contributing to the development and restoration of degraded tropical forests in the Mekong Sub-region countries. He hoped that experts, scientists and lecturers will exchange and share experiences on research results and implementation of programs and plans on forest management and restoration in the past time. Thereby giving ideas, suggestions and solutions to manage and restore degraded tropical forests of the Mekong Sub-region countries.

Representatives from the countries presented an overview of forestry, degradation and forest restoration and criteria. The workshop conducted group discussions and made recommendations and ideas for forest management and restoration in some countries in the region.

Professional discussion

After 2 working days, the Workshop on Forest Management and Rehabilitation has been successful. From the results of the workshop will be the basis for experts and scientists to contribute to forest management and restoration sustainably, contributing to the economic, social and environmental development of in the Mekong Sub-region countries. Scientists have discussed and built a large project on forest restoration in the region in the coming time.
