Working with Simosol organization and Vietnam Forest Owners Association (VIFORA)

In the afternoon of March 6, 2019, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) had a meeting with Simosol organization and Vietnam Forest Owners Association (VIFORA) on the development of the forestry sector information management system (FORMIS).

Attended by Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngai - Vice Chairman of VIFORA; Mr Tapio - A representative of Simosol organization in Vietnam; and staff in the delegation.

VNUF had Asso.Prof.Dr. Tran Quang Bao - Vice president; leaders and officials and staff of Sicience Technology Division, and scientists interested.

At the meeting, delegates listened to Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngai and officials of the VIFORA introduced an overview of Forest sector information management system such as how to access, use and exploit the information in the system. Participants discussed an approach and sharing in the field of FORMIS research and training. Asso.Prof.Dr. Tran Quang Bao - Vice president  affirmed necessity and practical meanings of the system, and also wanted Simosol and VIFORA to organize training courses for staff, lecturers, students, and fellows on the use and exploitation of FORMIS information system to better serve the research and training of the University.

The meeting

The FORMIS provides timely and accurate information for executive management of all levels: from central to local levels. With software to update changes in forest resources, the time of forest status announcement will be shortened by 4 months compared to a previous method. The system will also help the forestry sector to better implement administrative reforms, bring socio-economic efficiency, achieve high productivity, quality and efficiency, contribute to transparent information and share data in modern and scientific ways, meeting requirements in the age of technology 4.0.
