4th technical workshop on European-Vietnamese higher education network for sustainable forest and bio-economy

March 11, 2019 in Thai Nguyen, The 4th technical workshop: "European-Vietnamese higher education network for sustainable forest and bio-economy" was organized in the framework of Erasmus project, funded by Europe.

This is the fourth workshop held at Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (the first time at Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF),  the second time at Southeast University - Finland, the third time at the University of Science (HUS) - Vietnam National University (VNU)). The purpose of the workshop is to develop plans in order to implement activities of the postgraduate training network on sustainable forest management and bio-economy.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Stefan Hase Bergen - Director of the Deutscher Askademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), Prof.Dr. Mund Jan Peter - Project director, leaders and experts from 6 project member universities, which are Southeastern University - Finland, Eberswalde University - Germany; Valladolid University - Spain, VNUF, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, and HUS - VNU.

Regarding to VNUF, attending the workshop and signing ceremony of cooperation were Prof.Dr. Tran Van Chu - President; Asso.Prof.Dr. Bui The Doi - Vice president; Asso.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Sam - Head of International Cooperation Division; Dr. Cao Thi Thu Hien – lecturer of Faculty of Forestry and experts building the program.

At the workshop Prof. Dr. Mund Jan Peter, project director, reported results and plans in coming years. In particular, the Project will support teacher exchange programs; support graduate students and students of Vietnamese universities (VNUF, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, HUS to study abroad.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Stefan Hase Bergen - Director of the DAAD appreciated project contributions, not only builds training programs on a very important areas such as sustainable forest management and biological economy, but also opens up cooperations between universities in the project. During the workshop, the members will evaluate each subject developed by the universities and prepare for the courses at the VNUF and European countries in the future.

On the sidelines of the workshop Prof. Dr. Tran Van Chu - President of VNUF signed a memorandum of understanding with Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry. At the signing of the memorandum of understanding, leaders of two universities expressed their desire to cooperate in training, research and exchange of lecturers and students, especially when the universities joined the Erasmus project.
