Working with Lomonosov Moscow State University Russia and Khon Kaen University, Thailand

On May 17, 2018, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) had a meeting with the two universities Lomonosov Moscow State University Russia and Khon Kaen University, Thailand.

The delegation of Lomonosov Moscow State University Russia including Prof. Valery V. Demidov and Prof. Karpova Dina (Faculty of Soil Science) and Dr. Vu Tan Phuong (Head of Training Affairs and International Cooperation Department, Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences) were welcomed by Assoc.Prof. Tran Thi Thu Ha (Vice-Head of International Cooperation Department); Assoc. Prof. Phung Van Khoa (Dean of Forest Resources and Environment Management) and staff of International Cooperation Department and Science and Technology Department. At the meeting, experts from the two universities have discussed mutual interests, particularly on soil erosion. Currently, Prof.Dr. Valery V. Demidov and Prof.Dr. Karpova Dina are working with VNUF experts to develop a forecast model of soil erosion in the Suoi Sap Hydropower, Son La Province, based on the collected database of Assoc.Prof. Phung Van Khoa. VNUF and Lomonosov Moscow State University Russia have signed MoUs to promote cooperation between the two universities in the near future. After the meeting, the delegation and VNUF experts will go to the study site in Suoi Sap Hydropower, Son La Province.

After the meeting with Lomonosov Moscow State University Russia, VNUF welcomed the delegation from Khon Kaen University, Thai Lan, that led by Assoc.Prof. Somkiat Srijiranai (Dean of the Faculty of Science). During the meeting, representatives of the two universities introduced the university history and development, and research - training activities as well as the achievements of science and technology in the field of botany. The two sides agreed to cooperate in sharing data on plants, wood science and to co-publish in international journals, as well as conducting collaborative research projects and exchange of lecturers and students. Khon Kaen University also offers various kinds of scholarships for researcher and students who want to study or conduct research in Thai Lan with Khon Kaen University's professors. The both sides decided to sign Memorandum of Understanding to develop cooperation activities in the near future.
