Training workshop on Forest, Biodiversity and Climate Change

Morning of June 29, 2019, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) opened a workshop on Forest, Biodiversity and Climate Change in order to create a forum for scientists and experts to present and share information, experiences and research results related to forests, biodiversity and climate change with ministry leaders and staffs of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, India.

Attending the workshop was Mr. Shri Praveen Garq Addimal - Financial advisor, Assistant Minister the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, India as well as staffs and specialists. About the VNUF, attending was Asso.Prof.Dr. Bui The Doi - Vice President; Asso.Prof. Hoang Van Sam - Director of International Cooperation Division, and experts and scientists are currently working at the University.

Over the past years, VNUF has always been a pioneer in conducting scientific research and training of officials and managers related to areas of forestry, natural resources and environment, disaster prevention and reduction and biodiversity conservation. These research results are shared and exchanged annually through scientific seminars organized by the University.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Asso.Prof.Dr. Bui The Doi - Vice President has emphasized the importance of  the workshop: Climate change, desertification and biodiversity loss are very urgent and hot issues that are of special concern to countries in the world in the current period.

Asso.Prof.Dr. Bui The Doi said that the workshop is not for the purpose of sharing the latest research results in the above areas, also aimed at strengthening exchanges and expanding cooperation with agencies and managers of the Indian Government, as well as making effective proposals and solutions to mitigate impacts of climate change and desertification on biodiversity in Vietnam and India.

At the workshop, scientists presented studies and discussed research results, as well as solutions to preserve and develop biodiversity and forestry in the context of climate change. Thereby, creating opportunities to access the latest research results, sharing useful experiences, proposing effective solutions to biodiversity conservation and responding to climate change in Vietnam and India.

Meeting participants

In the workshop contents, experts will go to practice and work in Ba Vi National Park, Tam Dao National Park, Vietnam.
