New Year's Festival of Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Bangladesh have been celebrated in Vietnam National University of Forestry.

On the occasion of Water Festival – the New Year's celebration that take place in some Southeast Asian nations, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) organized a New Year's Day celebration for students from Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and international students who are studying at the University on April 14th 2018.

Attended the meeting, there were Assoc.Prof. Bui The Doi (Vice President); Assoc.Prof. Hoang Van Sam (Head of International Cooperation Dept.), members of Student Association and international students.

Traditionally, from 14th to 16th April, there are Chaul Chnam Thmey of Cambodian, Bun Pi May of Laos, Thing Yan of Myanmar people and Pohela Boishakh of Bangladeshi. These are the biggest festivals of the year all around these countries. The festival in VNUF reflected some typical traditional customs of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Bangladesh such as drawing wood powder Thanakha, pouring water on one another as a sign of respect, blessings and good wishes.

The New Year's Festival held at VNUF has contributed in tightening friendship as well as enhancing mutual understanding of cultural characteristics among countries.
