DAAD Project Meeting "DAAD Higher Education Partnerships "International Study Program in the Lower Mekong Region"

On 8 March 2018, the Project Meeting "DAAD Higher Education Partnerships "International Study Program in the Lower Mekong Region" was held at Vietnam National University with the participation of 5 other project partners: University of Goettingen, Technical University of Dresden, National University of Laos, Royal University of Agriculture Cambodia. The meeting had the presence of Dr. Stefan Hase-Bergen – Head of Regional DAAD Office Hanoi and Dr. Dirk Hoffmann – Representative of GIZ.

The delegations was welcomed by Prof. Tran Van Chu (President of VNUF); Assoc.Prof. Bui The Doi (Vice-President of VNUF); leaders and staff of International Cooperation Department, Post Graduate Department, Forestry College and lecturers of the International Master Program on Tropical Forestry.

The international M.Sc. program on tropical Forestry- DAAD Project "DAAD Higher Education Partnerships "International Study Program in the Lower Mekong Region" is jointly constipated and run by the Vietnam National University of Forestry, the National University of Laos and the Royal University of Agriculture (Cambodia), the University of Göttingen, and the Technical University of Dresden (both Germany). The program is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The program is fully taught in English by well-known professors from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Germany. The main contents focus on forest science, sustainable forest management, forest policy, forest ecosystems and biodiversity conservation, in particular for the tropical region. The study program emphasized on the Lower Mekong Region but as a full international program it is open to the whole tropical world.

The meeting focused on 2 main topic: (1) Evaluation the Project Implementation (2) Preparation for the next phase application of the project.  At the meeting, the participants discussed about the new proposal, proposal structure and workgroup planning. A number of new ideas have been introduced to improve the quality of the program, management systems, admissions to attract international students such as: upgrading curricula and teaching materials, improving the interaction of partner universities, increasing the number of students and lecturers mobility…
