Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) Signs International Memorandum of Understanding (IMOU) with Colorado State University (CSU), USA

Attended at the meeting and signing ceremony, on the CSU side there are Prof. James Cooney – Vice Provost of International Affairs; Dr. Chat Hoseth - Head of International Initiatives; Prof. John Moore - Dean of Forest, Rangeland Stewardship department, and some professors, experts and staff of International Office.

On the side of Vietnam National University of Forestry, there is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui The Doi - Vice Rector, Coordinator of advanced curriculum of advanced education program (AEP) in collaboration between the two universities.

VNUF and CSU have a history of cooperation for almost 20 years now (since 1999) when the first MOU was signed by the two universities. For nearly 20 years of cooperation, the two sides have obtained remarkable achievements and marked in the development of the two universities. For nearly 20 years, VNUF sent 10 teachers to CSU to complete the PhD programs. Many of them are now holding the key role in VNUF (two Vice Presidents; two Deans; two Vice Dean…); The two sides also sent many professors and experts to participate in many joint research, and together published many articles/papers in the prestigious journals with high impact index (Impact Factor) in the world. The two sides also sent numerous delegations from each other to discuss and develop cooperation programs in various fields of scientific research, development of academic programs, strengthening the capacity of staff. Especially from 2010 to now, the two sides have jointly implemented the project of advanced education program (AEP) of higher education sector under the framework of the Advanced Training Program of the Vietnam, phase III (2008 -2015).

Through this project, up to now, there have been 04 courses of graduate students in the field of natural resource management, that were taught totally in English training courses and lecturers are professors, experts of CSU and lecturers. After graduating from this program, many students have been participating in Master's programs abroad (in Canada, Germany, Japan, South Korea…). Also through this project, VNUF has sent 25 trainers to CSU for teaching and training, contributing to create a team of qualified profession and with very good foreign language proficiency that are capable of teaching in English.

Giving a short speech at the ceremony, Dr. Bui The Doi once again emphasized the achievements that the two sides have achieved during the past cooperation and affirmed to continue to implement more intensive and effective cooperation between the two universities. Dr. also express thankful to the support and cooperation of CSU leaders, staffs and experts in recent years to VNUF.

The signing ceremony of IMOU once again confirms the effective and sustainable cooperation between the two universities and opens a new future of cooperation in the context of globalization and intensive international integration. Accordingly, in addition to continuing to cooperate in the fields that have been effectively implemented over time, many other potential cooperation programs and plans will be further strengthened by the two sides.
