Received an invitation of the leaders of University of Sopron, Hungary, the delegation of Vietnam National University of Forestry led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Quoc An – Chairman of the University Council has visited and worked with the university from June 23rd to June 25th, 2022. 

VNUF delegation includes: Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Sam – Director of International Cooperation Division; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ly Tuan Truong - Dean of the College of Wood Industry and Interior Design; Mr. Dao Duy Phuong – Director of Finance and Accounting Division; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Xuan Phuong – Vice Director of International Cooperation Division.

On the side of University of Sopron, there were: Prof. Dr. Attila Fábián – Reector; Prof. Dr. Lakatos Ferenc – Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Tibor László Alpár – Vice-Rector and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Kornel Czimber – Vice-Dean for Research and Foreign Affairs (Faculty of Forestry); Assoc.Prof. Dr. Zoltán Pásztory – Vice-Dean for Research and Foreign Affairs (Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries); Prof. Dr. Róbert Németh – Head of the József Cziráki Doctoral School; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Sándor Fehér – Head of the Institute of Wood Technology and Technical Sciences.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the cooperation activities between the two universities in research and tranining in the context of the cooperation of education and training is considered a primary cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and Hungary in the near future as well some new activities to be included in the extended Cooperation Agreement to expand the fields of cooperation between the two sides. Both sides highly appreciated the cooperation results in the past time, especially the exchange programs of lecturers and students, funded by the EU-Erasmus project. The Sopron University's leaders introduced the strengths in research relating to forestry field such as: integrated system of management of forest resources and forest products, new materials from wood, wood bending technology, application of nanotechnology in wood modification, etc.. Expressing his belief in Sopron University's experience and strengths in the field of wood technology research, the Chairman of the University Council of Cao Quoc An hopes that the two sides will continue to cooperate to find new research directions. highly practical, with the participation of businesses, meeting the needs for the development of Vietnam's wood industry, serving the goal of furniture export as well as domestic consumption.

At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the two sides agreed to expand cooperation activities and agreed to sign the extended cooperation agreement between the two universities in the period 2022-2027.

Within the framework of the working trip, the delegation of VNUF attended and had academic exchanges with experts, lecturers and students of Sopron University in the field of wood industry, biodiversity and bamboo value chain of Vietnam. The delegation also visited a botanical garden, a research facility/ laboratories and a forestry company in Sopron.

The trip for cooperation between VNUF and University of Sopron was a great success, opening many opportunities for cooperation between the two universities in the future.
