Interest: My name is Abu bakar and I from Pakistan. I completed my bachelor's in 2014 from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto university, sheringal, KPK, Pakistan. After finishing my bachelor's, I worked in different organizations. After two years of working in my country I got a scholarship from Vietnam National University of Forestry, Vietnam and now I am enrolled in that Master program for two years. This is a International master program in forestry.

My interest is reading books and surfing internet.

About my master thesis I am going to do it in Vietnam. My topic is "An application of automatic recorders for gibbon monitoring in Khe Nuoc Trong proposed nature reserve". This is a great opportunity for me to study with great expert teachers in forestry.

Interest: I find myself happier helping people, especially empowering woman, I want to be there for them in need, helping them raise above their struggles and living independent this beautiful thing we call life.

My major concern is about mangrove ecology; meanwhile my interest is in GIS and Remote Sensing. Which is why, I am doing my master thesis in ‘Spatial-temporal changes in mangrove extents based on remote sensing and ground-truth measurement in Quang Ninh province.' In recent years, mining exploitation makes the coastal area polluted, which is malicious for marine environment as well as terrestrial life. As mangrove play crucial role in terms of ecology, it is a major concern to save our mother earth. 

Name: Chin Kolyan

Interest: Graduated in 2015 from Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Kolyan has joined internship exchange program between Cambodia and Israel for eleven months and got a diploma. After that, Kolyan decided to take part in International Master Program of Forestry at VNUF. Kolyan quotes that "It is a great chance for me to study at abroad. It's also accumulating the vital knowledge and skill for my future work. It is not only knowledge but also the leadership and it's a good chance to know new friends from different countries can share knowledge, new experience about the life and especially culture from the other country. In the final thesis, Kolyan decided to do research on her favorite Watershed management with thesis title "Runoff Generation and Soil Erosion From Different Age of Acacia Plantation Forest in Lam son Commune, Luong Son District, Hoa Binh Province, Vietnam".

Name: Van Thong Pham

Country of origin: Vietnam

Interest: Graduated in 2009 from Vietnam National University of Forest (VNUF), Thong has joined as field officer of Asian Turtle Program which is focusing on turtle conservation in Asia. After 7 years of working on NGO environment, Thong decided to take part in International Master Program of Forestry at VNUF. Thong quote that "It is the great chance for me to accumulate the vital knowledge and skill for my future work. It is not only knowledge but also the leadership is also enhanced which is importance for my future career of conservation nature". Currently, Thong gains a scholarship of ERASMUS PLUS for to study one semester abroad at Georg- August University of Gottingen, Germany.  The time study abroad is great chance for Thong to broaden his perspective about the forest sector from the best professors and colleagues all over the world.

In the final thesis, Thong decided to do research on his favorite turtle species Black-Breasted Leaf turtle (Geoemyda spengleri) with thesis title "Distribution, exploitation and basic ecology of Black-breasted Leaf Turtle (Geoemyda spengleri) in Tam Dao National Park (NP), Vinh Phuc Province and Tay Yen Tu Nature Reserve (NR), Bac Giang Province, Vietnam".

Interest: I graduated Bachelor degree of Forestry science from Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in 2015. In 2016 I started working as a government officer in Forest Administration. After that in 2017 I got DAAD's scholarship for master in VNUF. I studied forestry because I like natural view and forest provides us a lot of thing that why I want to study and conserve it.
For my final thesis I will do the research on: Assessing forest cover and carbon stock change using GIS and Remote Sensing in Phnom Tamao Zoological park and Wildlife rescue center, Cambodia.    

Name: Myo Min Thant

Interest: I am really interested in conserving our natural resources especially forest because the natural resources we are using today aren't owned by ourselves; we just borrow from our next generations. So we have responsible to give back our ecosystem as still good conditions to our next generations. And I will do my master Thesis concerning flora diversity, stand structure and species composition of natural forest in Myanmar.

Interest: Long graduated from the Vietnam Forestry University with major "Natural Resources Management" in 2014. He interested in wildlife conservation and Remote Sensing. Now he is working in Vietnam Forest Museum. He will do research on reptile and amphibian.

Interest: I graduated from Natural Resources Management program with a Bachelor degree. Now, I am in the third semester of International Master Program in Forestry. I am happy to be one of the students who receive the scholarship from Erasmus Plus for studying 5 months at Georg-August University of Gottingen, Germany.

I find myself to be interested in wildlife monitoring, conservation and management;

My final thesis title is "Testing the accuracy of the tool for localizing animal sound resources". In my thesis, a number of new software will be used to detect the location of the animal via their sounds. This study could effectively contribute to wildlife monitoring and management. 

Name: Paseun  SOUVANNASY

Country of origin: Lao PDR

Interest: After graduated in 2011 at the National University of Laos, I was officer at Department of Forest Resources management, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. When I knew that have scholarship from DAAD I was very interested in this scholarship, because I need to study abroad or around the world (international) to approve my English.

       For the final thesis I will do a research on "Status, Distribution and Ecology of Siamese Crocodile" in Laos. Siamese Crocodile is very important in currently, because distribution of the Siamese Crocodile in the world: Crocodylus siamensis historically occurred over much of mainland Southeast Asia as well as parts of Indonesia. Its current distribution is greatly diminished and fragmented. Extant populations are in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam.

      Status of the Siamese Crocodile is listed on Appendix I of CITES, and is listed on the IUCN Red List 2005.

      In Laos, C. siamensis is classified "at Risk", the highest nationally threat ranking (Bezuijen et al. 2006). The species was abundant in some parts of Laos.

Interest: I completed my Bachelor of Science in Forestry from "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sheringal, Dir Upper, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan from 2010-2014 with 77.5%. I was very keenly interested during my Forestry studies and very often involved in many related curricular and co-curricular forestry and climate change activities. Therefore, I was honored with 3^rd position holder of my own Batch. So I want to get more compete and efforts in my own field. 

I did my final semester thesis on "Assessment of biomass and carbon stocks estimation in the coniferous Forest of dir Forest division district Dir upper, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan" with my honorable supervisor Dr. Adnan Ahmad.

Name: Nhat Tan Pham

Interest: Tan graduated from the Vietnam Forestry University with major "Natural Resources Management" in 2014. He interested at wildlife conservation and Silviculture.

From 2015 to August 2016, he was field research officer at Save Vietnam's Wildlife (SVW). Then he worked for butterflies research at Fauna and Flora International - Vietnam program until July 2017. During this research, he started to studied master program at Vietnam Forestry University.  He would love to keep going on butterflies study in Vietnam.

Interest: I graduated from a Bachelor Program in Rubber Science from Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in 2014. Then I joined as a government staff (Lecturer at RUA) in 2015. In the academic year 2017-2018, I got a scholarship from DAAD (Germany) for the international master program at Vietnam University of Forestry (VNUF). My bachelor thesis topic is Yield potential of rubber clone GT1 on tapping system in d4 at Cambodian Rubber Research Institute. I really interest with natural rubber and how to increase rubber production to support human increasing demand. To fulfill the goals I chose my final thesis: "The effect of rubber plantation on soil properties in Son La province, Vietnam".

Interest: I was a student in the first cohort of Bachelor of Advanced Program In Natural resource management, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF). After graduated (2014), I worked for some Institutes: Institute of Tropical Forest Research and Development, Institute of Ecology and Work Protection as an officer who makes, designs maps and database of forest for 3 years. Because I'm not really interest on this, that why I decided to take part in International Master Program of Forestry in VNUF. Luckily I got a scholarship. My interest is Forest Certification and my thesis title is: "An assessment of the existing FSC implementation process for the period 2012-2016 and to propose alternatives for 2018-2022 in Hoa Binh Forestry Company".

Interest: My name is Duong Van Huy. I graduated from Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) in 2016 with a bachelor degree in Natural Resources Management. This is an advanced education program developed in collaboration with Colorado State University (CSU), USA.  During our study, we were taught in English by many professors from both CSU and VNUF. Currently, I am studying in this master program.

Now, this time for me to prepare the final thesis and I will do research on "Tree species composition and diversity in relation to topography in evergreen broad-leaved forests of Bi Doup - Nui Ba National Park, Vietnam".

Interest: DV Thang graduated Vietnam National University of Forest (VNUF) in 2010. Since then DV Thang has been working in NGO environment. Nowadays, DV Thang is working for a NGO "Social Policy Ecology Research Institute (SPERI)". He said that: He spend much of his time to do research on Vietnam forest land right policies. He hope that, his research result will support local ethnic minorities in forest and land governance. On the other hand, he hopes also that his research will make a small contributing to  improve forest and land governance policies at local government and higher level. In 2017, DV Thang decided to take part in the International Master Program of Forest   at NVUF to enrich his knowledge. In future, he will choose forest and land governance for this final thesis.

Interest: I graduated from a bachelor program in December 2016 at the Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF). My thesis was "Determining the payment mechanism for REDD+ project in Vietnam".

Recently, I'm working for English center in Hanoi. My main task is to manage the whole student of the center. Interest: My name is Nguyen Minh Quang. I graduated from Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) in the year 2016 as a student in natural resources management program. This program is imported from Colorado State University (CSU) and being taught by English by numerous professors both from CSU and VNUF. Name: Thin Zar Tun

Country of origin: Myanmar

Interest: I graduated from University of Forestry in 2014 and I joined as a research assistant at Biodiversity and Nature Conservation Association (BANCA) for one year. And then, I joined as a junior environmental and social expert at Myanmar Koei International Ltd. under JICA. I decided to improve my education background through studying at Graduate School of Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) in Vietnam. Now, I am studying a master degree at Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) in Vietnam with student funding support by DAAD Higher Education Partnership project International Study Program in the Lower Mekong Region.

I am really interesting about the role of foresters in preserving and protecting natural resources. So, my future plan is to complete a Master Degree and I have planned it so that by the time I need to conduct field research that will be useful enough to manage natural resources on our planet.

In the final thesis, I decided to do research on "The Ethnobotanical Study on Utilization of Bamboo Resources in a Mountainous Region of Myanmar".

Interest: I strongly interested to conduct the research related with criteria and indicators (C&I) of international standards for forest certification to contribute sustainable forest management (SFM) in Myanmar. Forest certification is increasingly recognized as a practical tool to encourage and recognize efforts for sustainable forest management. Current criteria and indicators in Myanmar for natural forest management certification needed to revise in line with international requirement to be precise international standard. This research will be intended to review past and present achievement of forest certification and identify the principle elements, criteria and indicators for standard of certification to fulfill the international requirements in Myanmar.
