On May 29–30, 2026, at its Dong Nai Campus, the Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) successfully organized the second Brief of Trainers (BoT2) training workshop under the initiative to strengthen training capacity and human resource development for Vietnam's solid biofuel sector.

The workshop followed the successful implementation of the first Brief of Trainers program (BoT1), previously held at VNUF's main campus in Hanoi. BoT2 contributed to expanding the network of master trainers and promoting the dissemination of new knowledge and technologies related to solid biofuels to educational institutions in southern Vietnam.

Participants included VNUF key trainers from the Dong Nai and Gia Lai campuses, as well as faculty representatives from three partner technical universities: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCMUTE), Nong Lam University and Thu Dau Mot University. The active participation of higher education institutions from across the region created a dynamic academic forum, strengthening inter-university collaboration in training human resources to support biomass energy development and the circular economy.

In the opening remarks, representatives of VNUF emphasized the important role of solid biofuels in the context of the global energy transition and the growing trend toward green development. Vietnam possesses abundant agricultural and forestry residues, providing favorable conditions for developing a modern, sustainable, and high-value-added solid biofuel industry. However, realizing this potential requires urgent efforts to enhance training, research, and technology transfer capacities for lecturers, researchers, and students.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to a range of specialized topics, including the solid biofuel value chain; pellet production technologies and other biomass fuel forms; quality standards and international market requirements; sustainability in biofuel production and utilization; and emerging trends in the global biomass energy sector. In addition to theoretical lectures, the program allocated substantial time for group discussions, sharing practical experiences, and developing plans to integrate solid biofuel-related content into the curricula of participating universities.

One of the highlights of BoT2 was the promotion of a regional network of key trainers in southern Vietnam specializing in solid biofuels. Through professional exchanges and academic networking activities, participants discussed opportunities for collaborative research, educational material development, interdisciplinary training programs, and community outreach initiatives related to sustainable biomass energy development.

The BoT2 training workshop at the Dong Nai Campus successfully achieved its objectives and received highly positive feedback from participants. The outcomes of the program not only enhanced the professional capacity of participating lecturers but also laid an important foundation for expanding education and research on solid biofuels at universities throughout southern Vietnam in the coming years.

Through the BoT1 and BoT2 training series, the Vietnam National University of Forestry continues to affirm its pioneering role in leading national capacity-building efforts for the solid biofuel sector, contributing to the achievement of renewable energy development goals, greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, and the promotion of green growth in Vietnam.
