Visiting and working at the Vietnam National University of Forestry, the delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (JICA) included: Mr. Kubo Yoshitomo, Deputy Chief Representative, Mr. Baku Takahashi, Chief Technical Advisor of the Project on Strengthening Sustainable Natural Resource Management (SNRM 2), Ms. Fumika Abe, Representative of JICA in Vietnam and Ms. Chu Xuan Hoa, Senior Officer in charge of forestry cooperation of JICA in Vietnam.

Welcoming the delegation, on the side of the Vietnam National University of Forestry, there were: Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien, President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Van Khoa, Vice President and representative leaders of a number of functional departments and faculties and institutes.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien thanked JICA for always being one of the long-term and reliable partners of Vietnam in general and the Vietnam National University of Forestry in particular. The two sides have cooperated in a number of programs such as the project "Strengthening the capacity of afforestation planning and implementation (FICAB 2)", the project of afforestation under the AR-CDM clean development mechanism, short-term training courses to improve the capacity of school staff organized by JICA in Japan, etc,… Japan Human Resource Development (JDS) scholarships for the university staff.

Through the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien also wishes to propose to JICA several new cooperation directions, including the project of modernizing the Vietnam National University of Forestry towards green growth and sustainable development and digitalizing the university project. In addition, the President also hoped that JICA would support the Vietnam National University of Forestry to build and develop e-learnings education programs to attract more domestic and foreign learners.

On behalf of JICA, Mr. Kubo Yoshitomo also expressed his appreciation for the contributions and support of the Vietnam National University of Forestry in JICA's activities in Vietnam, especially in the field of forestry and biodiversity conservation and sustainable forest management. In addition, Mr. Kubo Yoshitomo also shared more about 2 projects that JICA is implementing, SNRM 2 project in the field of forestry and the project Support for the Planning and Implementation of the Nationally Determined Contribution in Vietnam (SPI-NDC) on climate change and looks forward to cooperating with the University to jointly implement 2

projects This is an effective way in the near future, especially the component on capacity building if the green climate fund (GCF) proposal is accepted in the near future.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides committed to regularly coordinate information exchange to implement cooperation contents in the future and hope to have the next meaningful activities in the future.
