History

In 1956, the Academy of Agriculture and Forestry was established, including the Faculty of Silviculture. The Faculty of Silviculture has become one of the key faculties of the Academy of Agriculture and Forestry - the precursor of the Vietnam National University of Forestry. Up to this time, the faculty of Silviculture has been over 60 years. More than 60 years - a long way to history, striving and growing, a long way of integration and development. The Faculty of Silviculture has made great contributions to the development of the Vietnam National University of Forestry in particular and the forestry sector in the country in general. More than 60 training courses with over 13,500 forestry engineers graduated and nearly 1000 undergraduate students are training; 24 postgraduate training courses with more than 1,250 students and over 45 PhD students have graduated, 45 PhD students and 68 graduate students are training - they are cadre staffs, the scientists, the leaders of the forestry industry and the localities.
At present, the Faculty has a large team in terms of quantity, strong in quality. There are 48 staffs including 01 professor, 12 doctors, 34 masters and 7 staffs who are training abroad for PhD and postdoctoral degrees. In particular, there are still some professors and associate professors, although they have been retired, but still enthusiastic to participate in training and scientific research, contributing to build the Faculty more and more strong.
Besides teaching, the Faculty attaches great importance to the application of science into practice, especially the transfer of technology into production. There are 05 research topics at the national level, 77 research topics at the level of the sector, the ministerial level and 81 research topics at the grassroots level, 48  research topics at the faculty level and 208  research topics at the department level.
With the achievements in training human resources of high quality and carrying out research tasks over 60 years, the Faculty of Silviculture was honored to be awarded the Labor Medal second class, the Labor Medal third class, Certificates of the Government, many certificates of the Ministry. In terms of individual, there is one staff to be awarded the title of People's teacher, 12 staffs are meritorious teachers.
There have been so many generations of lecturers, officeholders and students who have studied and worked in the Faculty, they have dedicated their lives to the training and scientific research to build a the Faculty of Silviculture not only has a long history, but also has important contributions to build a heroic Vietnam National University of Forestry of today.
The teachers and students of the Faculty of Silviculture are extremely proud of the achievements they have made, contributing to the affirmation of the brand and position of the Vietnam National University of Forestry in the country and region. In the coming years, there are many advantages, opportunities, challenges, and difficulties are set, the Faculty of Silviculture is determined to unite, promote emulation and comprehensive renovation to implement the Party direction "Improving the quality of human resources, comprehensive renovation and rapid development of education and training"
