On the afternoon of March 26, 2026, the Vietnam National University of Forestry received and held a working session with the Delegation of the Social Work Department of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee (China). The working session was organized within the framework of promoting the implementation of practical cooperation contents, contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
Promoting multi-sectoral cooperation connection
Attending the working session, on the side of Shandong Province, there was Mr. Sun Min (Tôn Mân) – Vice Minister of the Social Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the delegation, along with representatives of provincial agencies, organizations, and enterprises.
On the side of the Vietnam National University of Forestry, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Van Khoa – Vice President in charge of International Cooperation, along with leading representatives of units: Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Youth Union, Center for Social Work and Community Development, Political and Student Affairs Division, International Cooperation Division.

At the working session, the two sides shared the potential for cooperation in many fields. Shandong Province is known as one of the leading agricultural centers in China, with strengths in production scale, technology, and agricultural value chains. Meanwhile, the Vietnam National University of Forestry has strengths in training and research in the fields of agriculture - forestry, environment, and sustainable development.
Cooperation orientation linked with technology and sustainable development
One of the key contents discussed was the application of advanced technology in agriculture - forestry, especially artificial intelligence (AI) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in smart production. The two sides also exchanged views on the "low-altitude economy" model – applying aerial vehicles in transportation and production management in difficult terrain areas, contributing to improving labor productivity and efficiency.
In addition, research cooperation directions on medicinal extraction from forest resources, biodiversity conservation, and green economic development were also proposed, opening up potential for research and technology transfer cooperation in the coming time.

Expanding educational cooperation and human resource development
In the field of education, the Vietnam National University of Forestry proposed that Shandong support sending volunteers to teach Chinese, contributing to improving foreign language proficiency and integration capabilities for students, especially in the Tourism and Logistics majors.
The Shandong side expressed its readiness to promote scholarship programs, student and intern exchanges, creating conditions for the University's staff and students to access an international learning and working environment.
Strengthening cooperation in the field of social work
The two sides also had in-depth discussions on the modern social work model in Shandong, emphasizing the role of social organizations in community connection, supporting vulnerable groups, and developing a new labor force. This is considered a potential field to deploy cooperation programs, share experiences, and develop models suitable for Vietnam's conditions.

Towards establishing a sustainable cooperation mechanism
At the end of the working session, the Vietnam National University of Forestry proposed establishing the Shandong - Vietnam Agriculture and Forestry Cooperation Research Center located at the University, in order to concretize cooperation contents and promote research, training, and technology transfer.
The two sides also agreed to establish an official contact point to deploy cooperation activities in the coming time, with an orientation toward long-term, practical, and effective development. The visit and working session of the Shandong Province delegation have opened up new cooperation prospects between the two sides, contributing to strengthening the connection between higher education institutions and localities, promoting sustainable agriculture - forestry development, and international integration.
