2+2 training program with Nanjing Forestry University, China

Attending the meeting, on the side of VNUF were: Prof.Dr. Pham Van Dien – President; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Cao Quoc An – Chairman of the University Council, leaders of the International Cooperation Division, Academic Affairs Division,Wood Industry College, Faculty of Forestry, College of Landscape Architecture and Interior Design; along with faculty members who had studied at NJFU. Representing NJFU were Dr. Zhou Li – Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department, Prof. Cao Lin – Vice Dean of the College of Forestry, Prof. Xia Changlei and Prof. Zhou Xiaoyan – Vice Dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Mr. Hou Wen Jun – Secretary of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, and Ms. Wang Sijia – Director of the International Student Management Department.

At the meeting, Prof.Dr. Pham Van Dien welcomed the delegation from NJFU and expressed gratitude towards NJFU for training many quality lecturers for the VNUF. The President hopes that in the coming time the two universities will take more concrete steps to strengthen cooperation in training, scientific research and a number of other fields in which both sides have strengths.

After an overview of the training and research programs and strengths of the two universities, in an intimate and open atmosphere, the two sides exchanged discussions on various cooperative programs and research for the future, including long-term and short-term training programs, research cooperation in the fields of forestry, forest resource management, wood industry, and silviculture. The two sides also want to promote the implementation of joint training programs and exchange of lecturers and students. Dr. Zhou Li, representing NJFU, introduced scholarship programs for teachers and students of VNUF. In the immediate future, both sides will carry out procedures to soon reopen the 2+2 training program in Forestry and  Wood technology.

The working session concluded successfully, opening up many cooperation opportunities and contributing to the development of both universities in the future.
