Cooperation between Vietnam National University of Forestry and Guangxi Forestry Research Institute, China

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung; Mr. Tran Cuong, Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China; Mr. Ha Vi, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Consul General of Vietnam in Nanning.

Representing VNUF were Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien – President; leaders of the International Cooperation Division, Academic Affairs Division, General Administration Office, College of Landscape Architecture and Urban Greening, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Forest Resources and Environmental Management, and the Center for Varieties & Hi-Tech Forestry.

Representing GFRI were Prof. Dr. Ly Khai Tuong – Director, along with his colleagues.

President of VNUF, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien, and Director of GFRI, Prof. Dr. Ly Khai Tuong, emphasized the strengths, shared interests, and significant opportunities for collaboration in scientific research and technology transfer. The presence and support of leaders from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Guangxi provincial authorities, and the Embassy further reinforce the partnership.

During the discussions, both parties agreed on an implementation plan for the signed agreements, with a focus on key areas such as seed technology, forest resource management, urban greenery, medicinal plants, essential oil crops, smart forestry, and high-tech applications in forestry. Regarding human resource development, the two institutions committed to strengthening training cooperation, facilitating the exchange of staff and students for internships and scientific research. Both sides also agreed to designate focal points to develop specific initiatives and joint projects.

The successful conclusion of the working program paves the way for promising future collaborations between the two institutions.
